modest mouse movie due this summer

Jam band extraordinaire Modest Mouse is going to the movies.

Home video giant Image Entertainment announced at their website that the

company has secured the theatrical distribution rights to "Modest Mouse:

Bittersweet Motel," a documentary shot over the course of two years on

the road.

"Both fans of Modest Mouse and general audiences are in for a real treat;

'Bittersweet Motel' is a superb performance piece as well as an

extraordinary look at this unique band," Imagine CEO Martin Greenwald

said in a press release. "We will take a very aggressive stance in

promoting the program through both grassroots and traditional marketing

channels."

"Bittersweet Motel" was filmed on the road in the U.S. and Europe. It

was directed by Todd Phillips, who recently received a prize for best

documentary at the Sundance Film Festival. His previous films include

"Hated," a profile of scatological performance artist G.G. Allin, an HBO

documentary about college hazing rituals called "Frat House", and the

Tom Green comedy "Road Trip", which opens tomorrow (Friday).

The film will make its theatrical debut in late summer, with DVD and

video release to follow.
