led zeppelin and the rolling stones, beatles, etc do NOT fall into the same
genre. they just don't. led zeppelin had the long hair, no shirt,
icky/cheesy music that appealed those cockrock bands from the 80s. to me,
calling led zeppelin rock and roll is like saying modest mouse are gangster
rap. it's just not true ;)
anyway, yeah i mentioned brian eno along with talking heads as two of a few
80s bands/musicians that i found to be decent. the rest of the 80s music
(commercial music anyway) was quite disappointing.

yeah, your point? ;) i happen to like those bands, and they probably did
influence some really shitty bands, but those bands themselves were good.
therefore, i can't see a real problem :P

well the thing that irks me is that not only do i really hate led zeppelin,
but they also had great influence on other shitty bands.
> Most cock rock and hair bands cam way after Zep hit their Coda.
but they were influenced by led zeppelin!
> I bet there are very few performers you like that didn't like Zep at some

yes..which makes me very happy, because then i'm not listening to led
zeppelin-influenced music ;)

<< by the way
i wouldn't go looking for decent music by listening to the smiths, duran
duran, or the chameleons ;) even the elvis costello thing bugs me. >>
> are you completely insane or am I misunderstanding this?
did i phrase that badly, or do you just think i'm insane for hating the
smiths, duran duran, the chameleons, and not especially enjoying the work
of elvis costello?
please elaborate.
