A couple emails back someone asked about recording devices. Well, I just
wanted to let you know what I use cause I really like it. I just got a Sharp
722. (190$)It can do anything you want pretty much. It has a Mic Input jack
so you can plug any mic you want into it. It has Record Volume Level
control. Meaning you can adjust the volume of the recording AS you record.
There is also an indicator on the display panel that shows you when your
recording level is in a good spot. I found it to be very user friendly. You
can also divide tracks and any given point. So you can record a whole
concert on just one track and after the show divide it into different tracks
which is cool. It has 3 levels of bass boost. It has MONO setting that
allows you to get twice the amount of recording time from your MD. (144min)
It's not like you can get a REAL stereo sounding recording while you bootleg
anyway...so why not just record in MONO. Nice feature. It has a switch on
the back that LOCKS all the buttons on the device....even POWER. Soooo. At
the start of the show you adjust the Record Level till it looks good, Lock
the device so the buttons can't be pressed and shove it in your pocket,
forget about it and enjoy the show. Divide the songs later and just make
sure you're not standing by some retard who thinks it's cool to shout all
the words to every song in the wrong key. After you have the show on MD you
can put it on your computer or tape cassette using the Line out jack and a
special wire you get a radioshack. It cost 5$. Another important thing is
the Mic you use. I have an Audio Techniques mic. It's pretty good. However
it doesn't perform well in super loud environment. The BASS just over powers
it. So if anyone out there can recommend a good lapel mic let me know. Under
100$
