It is interesting to note that according to 'sysdef' - the HostID is not quite the same as the ether MAC. ifconfig -a says: > ether 8:0:20:a7:fc:f5 sysdef says > HostID 80a7fcf5 Also, on a Sun Ultrasparc, hostid is system dependant and R/O; on an x86, the changes are emulated via an eeprom -i switch call.
