OK. Thanks Brian!!!!! I should do more research on the net! Sorry for wasting your time!!!! I guess my problem was in not really understanding the term 'soul music'........... I gather now it's more of a stylistic development of r'n'b than a style of singing...... I think I've got a better understanding now....... Interesting to see the term 'soul jazz' being used to refer to Jimmy Smith etc..... You're right of course about 'definitions' etc. - that's why I've never bothered really before..... I'm more interested in hearing music than reading about its history (though of course that's important to some extent too)........ Cheers! Paul PS. Those mod jazz comps confused me a bit I guess...... I mean I know it's not strictly jazz since there's a lot of straightforward blues on there....... but I guess I was seeing Booker T in a similar light to Jimmy Smith (Though I *know* they have very different styles!!) - ie. dancefloor/hammond jazz.......... PPS. DOMINIC -----> Get over your jealousy.................. They don't call me Paul 'Latin Lover' Secular for nothing you know! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
