I've seen a few good ones come up on this list...somebody said
Austin..probably the Artsy-Bohemian center of the South, or at least one of
the less conservative places in Dallas. I was gonna add Northampton, MA and
the surrounding area..I don't know that there is an actual Mod scene in the
Happy Valley, but you can count Terri because she used to live there, and
I've seen a number of moddish guys in 3 button jackets, skinny trousers, and
nice shoes..one guy even had a Target pin on his lapel. Another time I saw a
Velojet AND a Vespa parked on the corner of Pleasant and Pearl St. and I
think the area in general would be condusive to the lifestyle..lots of
cafes, more than a few record shops and used CD places, a great music scene,
free PVTA bus, etc. Hell if I had the cash and my degree I'd move there in a
second. The only downside is that people there are often really PC, and that
there is a large populatrion of mentally ill people (The Car Screamer, The
Bearded Lunatic who jabbers at buildings) but all and all it's a nice place.
