Last Thursday - it was great. Although obvious part of the same 'movement'
as The Three Deuces, Bob Birch Boogaloo Band and The Nick Rossi set, they
were more to the r'n'b side of the soul-jazz/Mod-jazz equation - the
drumming was a lot more on-the-beat and jazzy. Nice cover, with audience
participation of Hot Barbecue. And second to that, they actually got The
Atrium going - after months of good music and good surroundings, but not
much dancefloor action, they finally kicked the night off so that when the
band came off the dancefloor (small as it is) was full to the very last song
. . .
(I was only going to stay until 12. Ended up going to bed at 3.30!).
