I know this may be of little interest to anyone, but I know we wre talking
about this a few months back.
At the weekend, I finally found a copy of the Chess comp. 'Sweeter Than
The Day Before'. And even better, it was on double vinyl. And just to cap it
off, it cost me a tenner!! So, this album is still flying around, despite
Brian and I believing that it had been sunk into the recessional vaults of a
small reissue label.
I can honestly say that this is THE definitive Chess album. Forget Club
Soul and the rest. A taster of the albumin? George Kirby - What Can I Do
                                                              Joanne Garrett
- A Whole New Plan
                                                              Terry Callier
- Look At Me Now
                                                                   (the
PROPER version and not a
jazz out-take which has none
of the soul of this cut)
                                                                   The
Valentinos - Sweeter...
                                                                    Little
Milton - Sometimey
(heavily underplayed)
                                                                    Sunday -
Ain't Got No Problems
                                                                     Etta
James - Payback
And more classics that I can't remember (is this a good advert for
it being memorable?!)

And one of my fave songs of all time on Chess (but obviously not my
fave!) Andy Mack - Later Than You Think. I don't think people realise how
good this record really is. Anyway, that's enough babbling from me.. Just
wanted everyone to know how good the Chess stable was if you didn't already
know.......
             Happy with purchases,
                   Matt.....
