woMEN beat writers were given little credit because the only ones of note
came after the initial 'beat generation', which actually occured in the late
forties and early fifties... with most of them coming out of the so called
san franciso renaissance (ie diane de prima), which was loosely tied to the
nyc beat scene.
on another note of time dialation...by the time that the stupid beatniks were
thinking they were hip as fuck, allen ginsberg was a burnt out hippie, and
kerouac was living with his mother in florida with serosis (sp?) of the
