Thought I'd add a few lines on this subject.

The only groups of Mods I've ever heard of or known personally that
could be considered 'firms' were London's 'Bow Street Runners' of the
mid 80s, Birmingham's 'Sauce Force' and Leyton Orient FC's 'Mod Squad'.

If anyone has the Purple Hearts live LP then you can clearly hear the
Bow Street Runner chant. If later editions of Extraordinary Sensations
are to be believed then they had a penchant for taking out Casuals. For
US listers, by 'taking out' I don't mean to the cinema.

The Sauce Force were just a group of friends that used the term
very loosely as a piss take of scooter clubs, however the name
stuck. But I don't think they'd have considered themselves a firm
as such.

As for the Leyton Orient thing - who knows ?? Never met them, and
only read about them in a modzine of the time (about 82 ish I think).

Nice to hear Dominic mention Secret Affair on TOP2, they played
the 'Time For Action' rerun a few months ago - is it possible it might
have been 'My World' on Saturday ?
