i've just experienced the snobbery from the boiler site that i've heard
you all speak about. here's what happened: they just got the new phase
of the site under way and asked people to check it out and comment via
their forum section. now for those who haven't been on the site, it's
divided up into sections - art, graphic design, music, furniture,
architecture, etc. and each section has content discussing its relevance
and importance to modernism. i suggested that there needed to be a
section devoted to fashion. just a simple observation. just my humble
opinion. i thought it was more important to the mod ethos than something
like architecture. well the next thing i knew, all these people wrote in
defending the worth of architecture and basically calling me ignorant to
the upmost importance of architecture to mods and modernism in general.
now i suppose there are those out there who agree with them and would
love nothing more than to spend their time discussing the importance of
architecture. so before i piss off all the art students, i'd just like
to say that i've nothing against art students or students in general. i
think that it's great they have the time and luxury to discuss such
matters. but when i have spare time or money, i'm not going to spend it
talking about bloody architecture. call it ignorance, call it a class or
cultural difference. i don't much care. all i know is that at the end of
the day, architecture isn't going to effect you as a person or you as a
mod or your life. and that's a fact.
i'm sorry if i offend anyone with this message. it is intended only as a
bitching session. i just needed to vent.
