Dear list Once again I impose on Lisa to forward the following message (n.b. interested parties please note: Richard Hutt is no longer on this list and will not receive messages sent to it) A gentle reminder those in North America with cable television may wish to turn on their sets at 5pm or 11pm tonight to catch a television show on the film fashions of the 1960s, and the impact of youthful Euro styles and designers on film and costume design. It airs on the American Movie Classics Channel. As previously mentioned, while I can claim credit for a lot in the show, I can also claim to have nothing to do with some of its lamer aspects. Highlights include Mary Quant, Theadora Van Runkle, Michael York, and some incredible footage. Lowlights include lots of Austin Powers references. In defence of this failing, I can assert that a tie-in to this film and its success was pretty much the only way to get a doc on 60s film fashions made at all. I can however offer no explanation for the awful pictures used to represent the 80s/60s revival or the prolonged and dreadful mis-use of the word "mod". I did my best on both counts but Im only the "Associate" Producer and "Additional Writing By" guy I did however manage to squeeze in some bits ans bobs you wont be used to seeing on tv, including excerpts of Smashing Time, Modesty Blaise, The Flint films etc. If you have sharp eyes you can see me being a silly arse in the Austin Powers cranberry velvet suit (which I can report was rather well made - however he has a lot more tummy than me.) Anyway, love it, hate it, whatever - just turn your tv on. Thankyou. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ______________________________________________ Faster, stronger and able to send millions of emails in one click: the new Topica site! http://www.topica.com/t/14
