I can tell a similar tale regarding a gorgeous girl who used to hand out flyers outside our union when I was at uni - she was my height, long brown hair, wore a fitted brown leather jacket, black trousers and two-tone heeled loafers (her make-up was sparse and she wore prominent black eye-liner) most of the time, and looked stunning - not overtly mod but I could pick up traces. One day I took a flyer and asked her if she went to 'The Palace' night at the Riverside (60's Beat/Soul/Psych), and her reply (in thick geordie twang) was: "Urghhh, I fucking hate all that 60's stuff.....why d'ya ask?".
