i cannot speak of San Francisco, as i have
never been there. but as a native New Yorker
and fellow "mod" i can say that NYC has its
good points and bad points...
The Art scene here is phenomenal- lots of
like minded artists and collectives and
moreover a lot of gallery spaces.
As for any form of "mod" scene however,
New York is more than simply lacking. There
is NONE whatsoever-- dont let anyone fool you.
New York is filled with indie-rock students
who may create such an appearance, but mind
you, this is just a facade. There are no clubs,
there are no bars, there is NO scene. Sure,
there are a couple of nights here and there,
but most purist mod nights only last a couple
of weeks due to lack of interest. it is truly
a sad situation.
