I have to agree.. not much MODism going down here.. Britpop and
Powerpop to your hearts content.. but I have to shed some light.. I
think you may see some changes.. A lot of people are starting to move
to NYC.. and I know for a fact a lot of those people all plan to by
scoots and take on some sort of MOD form of lifestyle.. But don't
hold your breath.. I can say that there will be 2 new vespas in this
city probably. hehehe thats all I can say.. hehe
Its just interesting because I really think the look and fashion may
make a pretty big come back to the US. I am not sure the music will
follow but Scoots and the mod look are all very very very hot items
for even non-mod people.. All you need is a spark of curiosity and
walla.. someone goes mod. All my girlfriend's friends who aren't
even mods or know what they are all looking for mod haircuts.. in
magazines .. shit I read recently in this one hair magazine a whole
page dedicated to the "Dandy Style" which was just neo-mod hair with
suits.. While you all laugh.. hmm I just got that feeling.. Young,
rich, and mod.. its really the cry of young computer professionals
and business professionals.. Sure you have a lumpsome of dumb
football players.. but there is a good ammount of interest in the
style and look, and enough money in the hands of the young to have a
pretty good hybrid started.
Now the actually substance of this movment.. i am not going to
comment on.. For all I know it could be thickheaded idiots in suits
saying they are mods.. But then again.. you could see a new breed of
smart professional who has one up their parents.. and doubled their
income..;)
So I don't know.. SF has a pretty good mod scene from what I could
tell..I very diverse mod scene at that too.. Lots of people from all
walks of life sporting a parka and a scoot.. Hell look at all the
damn scoot houses in SF..
