I've got it!

Being a modernist is about wanting to be the best, wanting to experience
the best life has to offer, and not being bound in by artificial
boundaries, shackles, confines.
A modernist will dress in the best clothes - not just try to fit in. A
modernist never takes no for an answer.

Modernists are artists - their lives the 'canvas'.
I'm no historian - but this 'philosophy' has it's roots way back before
the late 1950s.

However 'cool jazz' represents an absolute revolution/milestone in the
history of art - and it's not surprising it started a social revolution.

After all - music is one of the most powerful forms of art as we all
probably would agree.

It's about the best. The absolute BEST.

Oscar Wilde, Moravia, Cage, Sartre, E.E. Cummings, Mondrian, Billie
Holiday, MJQ, Miles Davis, Dinah Washington, Mose Allison, John Lee
Hooker - dimples in yer jaw - Lichtenstein, The Who, perfectly-angled
bodies and perfectly cut clothes, The Vespa, hipsters for men, frock
jackets and bouffants

Gentlemen - the BEST...

Puffa jackets are 'not mod'. Why? Because they are shit. They have no
artistic value.

Modernists' opinions don't just *differ* from other peoples - they
supersede them - modernists are not 'different' - they are BETTER.

However I must stress that I mean this in an artistic sense - and that
it is perfectly possible to have taste in some things but not all. It's
possible to appreciate art without the sheer OBSESSION of a modernist.

Modernism in conclusion my friends, is more than a religion - it's tied
in to the very fabric of human existence - it represents man reaching
for existence in the ONLY way really - it represents total FREEDOM.

Non-modernists (for want of a better term) should be pitied - without
arrogance and superiority complexes (which I admit is difficult) a
modernist should convert these other poor souls - a modernist owes it to
himself/herself to introduce others to the wonderful beauty of life and
reality.

Buona vita!!!

Thank you gentleman, and Good Night!
