it's actually a slave song, as was 'swing low, sweet chariot'... and i've
often wondered what andy cole makes of the terrace derivation 'swing low,
sweet andy cole'.
while we're on the subject of marlena shaw, i'd recommend her later stuff,
especially a track called 'woman of the ghetto'. i loved the stuff she did
in the mid-nineties with bluey manuick (a.k.a. incognito) on talkin' loud,
which eventually lead to her hit 'remember me' under the guise of blueboy.
i've got a live version of 'wade in the water' by ray charles, but it isn't
much cop, mostly because it's so badly mixed.
