I'm in a 'Nancy Wilson' phase at the mo' and i am intrigued by 'Ode to Billy
Joe' - just what is it that they're throwing over the bridge?
Unless it's supposed to be mysterious on purpose, I can only think that the
girl and Billy have a baby and have to throw it over the bridge, and full of
remorse, Billy throws himself in after it. Evidently there was 'something'
going on between the girl and Billy Joe as at the end of the song, even when
married to someone else, she's throwing flowers off the bridge into the
river.
Anyone got any ideas?
Or am i being over-analytical?
