Cute - but not one of their best:
She, Stepping Stone, Train To Clarksville, Mary Mary, Valerie (not to
mention the Theme from The Monkees............)

Also you will remember I said 'I was tempted to say I preferred the
Monkees to the Action' - that wasn't to say I had actually given it
serious thought and arrived at a conclusion on the matter (hence my
'don't quote me on it' comment - which was obviously ignored by
yourself!!)

both groups did some good songs (though I've said Reg is a more soulful
singer...)

My comments on the Action are based on the fact that most of their
output was inferior covers of great soul songs.
I don't for a minute believe the monkees could have done a better job on
them!!!!!
But they didn't try and hence did songs that sounded good and made the
most of what talents they had.

I haven't done the maths - but I'd guess there are MORE Monkees songs I
like than Action ones....................

But then again 'Shadows and Reflections' is quite possibly better than
anything th Monkees did.

In any case - this is silly - I didn't bring the damn monkees into it in
the first place - did I?!

I prefer good SOUL music to both these bands.... they both pale in
comparison to the Vandellas, The Temptations, the Marvelettes, Jackie
Wilson, the Shirelles, curtis mayfield, blah blah blah......
