Doubt it Julian, people in the 60s/garage scene have been digging
South American sounds for quite some time. Not a new thing.
Somehow I managed to find out about Os Mutantes (as well as quite a few of my friends)
without listening to Stereolab. Wasn't "cut off from that info" or
anything. Imagine that. Some people don't necessarily need to have a current
pop star seal of approval in order to dig something on their own.
Although tell that to all the Weller fans that suddenly started digging Traffic.
And no, I never liked Traffic, even before Weller didn't like them.
