Looking through my error logs, find two messages oft repeated. First
[Wed Feb 3 14:32:59 1999] [error] mod_ssl: SSL handshake failed
(SSLeay error follows)
(Note, SSLeay error does not follow...)
This is reproducable if a client of mine uses MSIE 4.01 (service pack
1). From the same computer, if he uses netscape, there is no problem
(which rules out firewall problems).
Another error is :
[Wed Feb 3 09:45:21 1999] [error] SSLeay: error:14094412:SSL
routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert bad certificate [Hint: Subject
DN in certificate not server name!?]
If DN is the domain name, the following details will help :
- The server is 206.167.155.39
- the reverse of that IP is www.ip.informatrix.ca
- the cert is for groupe.informatrix.ca
- groupe.informatrix.ca is also 206.167.155.39 (IN A, not IN CNAME)
Software :
Apache/1.3.3 (Unix)
SSLeay 0.9.0
mod_ssl 2.1.0
RedHat 4.2 + errata
Linux 2.0.35
I'm going to upgrade to mod_ssl 2.2.0 to see if it helps.
