Then the stuff doesn't stay under exactly 
`pwd`/../rsaref-2.0/local/

Go to the SSLeay directory and try 

$ ls -l `pwd`/../rsaref-2.0/local/librsaref.a

When it complains the path is different, when it
works I've currently no clue what's going wrong for you...
