We just encountered the same problem, only with NS 4.5
(both: Unix (Solaris) and NT)
For now we found the following dependencies:
Apache/1.3.4 mod_ssl/2.1.8 SSLeay/0.9.0b ok
Apache/1.3.6 mod_ssl/2.2.8 SSLeay/0.9.0b failes
Apache/1.3.6 mod_ssl/2.2.8 openssl/0.9.2b ok
But with the last combination we found some SIGSEGV's within the
childs.
