Further to my last message - I'm even more confused now.
I got to another RH6.0 machine and installed openssl-0.9.3-1.i386.rpm and
apache-mod_ssl-1.3.6.2.3.2-0.i386.rpm. I typed `httpd -DSSL` and Apache was
up and running. Then I did a `killall httpd` followed by another `httpd
-DSSL` and blow me if it failed to start.
I am very confused in that the server does not core dump, in fact looking at
a strace it starts up, forks and exits. The only problem is that the
children don't seem to live at all.
chdir("/") = 0
fork() = 9657
munmap(0x40016000, 4096) = 0
_exit(0) = ?
As a separate question: why does https://www.modssl.org/ fail to display all
the graphics and sometimes refuse connections?
