By the way, just to clarify.. obviously you run configure and make/make
install for apache *last*.  So to be more precise:

1. unpack, configure, build, and install MM and OpenSSL
2. unpack Apache
3. unpack and configure mod_ssl (thereby applying it to the Apache
source tree)
4. unpack, configure, and install mod_perl and mod_php4 (thereby adding
them to the Apache source tree)
5. configure, build, and install Apache

Just in case this wasn't clear the first time.  :)
