Hi,

first of all I'd like to say thank you to Ralf Engelschall and the Apache
dev. team for their continuos efforts :-))

And now the technical question:

I need to set up a reverse proxy (accelerator proxy) in order to filter
user requests to our webserver. Our webserver is powered by Apache + ModSSL
(plus some more modules: php, perl, jserv....). Our webserver is configured
with a digital certificate issued by Verisign. Proxy rewriting rules are
defined using mod_rewrite. At present I see two possible solutions:

1) User browser speaks https with the reverse proxy; reverse proxy speaks
http with the web server

2) User browser speaks https with the reverse proxy; reverse proxy speaks
https with the web server

I do believe that the second is only possible with the new experimental
features introduced with ModSSL rel. 2.6.0 and Apache 1.3.12. Is that
correct?
Of course the second is the solution I prefer. In order to deploy it, I
need to instruct the Apache reverse proxy to behave as an https aware
server when speaking to user's browser and, at the same time, as a browser
(thus able to download the server certificate and check it) when speaking
to the web server. Is that correct? If my ideas are correct, is there
anybody willing to give me an example on how to use the new directives in
order to achieve my goal?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,

Costantino Imbrauglio
