Hello, I am building/installing Apache 1.3.12, released 2/25/2000 mod_ssl 2.6.2 for Apache 1.3.12, released Mar 2, 2000 OpenSSL 0.9.5, Feb 28, 2000 RSA Reference Library 2.0, March 26 1996 on a Digital UNIX 4.0D AlphaServer. I have read the other reports of this problem to the list and I am still at a loss why I receive the error. My steps without the details are... build RSA build OpenSSL install OpenSSL build modssl into Apache build Apache cat /vmunix /var/adm/messages > $HOME/.rnd /usr/local/openssl_0.9.5/bin/openssl genrsa 1024 make certificate TYPE=custom then Encrypt the private key now? [Y/n]: Y read RSA key writing RSA key Enter PEM pass phrase: Verifying password - Enter PEM pass phrase: unable to write key 22712:error:24064064:random number generator:SSLEAY_RAND_BYTES:prng not seeded:md_rand.c:470: mkcert.sh:Error: Failed to encrypt RSA private key *** Exit 1 Stop. *** Exit 1 Stop. Where did I make my mistake? Note Digital UNIX 4.0D does not have any /dev/*random. Any word when modssl 2.6.3 for Apache 1.3.12 will be out?
