You could find apache-mod_ssl RPM for at least two years at
http://www.modssl.org/contrib/

There was two versions one for RH 5.2 and one
for RH6.x.

I used to build RH 5.2 version from the SRPMS and have
worked with Magnus Stenman to have a PLUG-IN REPLACEMENT
of standard Redhat Apache RPM.

RPM is an EXCELLENT thing (not only on Redhat systems).
By the way there are tons of users which start to SSL
HTTP servers using our RPMs and mod_ssl.

One could allways install software from scratch after
rebuilding on target platform. But if you have to install
the software on more than 3/4 servers, you'll see all the
advantage of RPM packaging (or Debian packaging).

You could find this afternoon a RH 5.2 version of latest
APACHE 1.3.12 + MOD_SSL 2.6.2 in contrib area.

Notice also there are others sensible RPM there like :
(JServ, Apache-Contrib, OpenSSL...)

Regards
