Hi,

i read all the messages in the archive, since I had a problem with
apache+modssl+openssl with a Verisign
Global Cert. The problem was that all worked just fine with netscape,
but worked only sometimes with
Internet Explorer (3 or 4 times out of 10).

In fact, I thought it was an openssl or modssl problems, especially for
the way they handle sgc certs. I
tried multiple configurations, changing algorithms, protocol version,
and so on, but nothing happened. So
I decided to buy another cert (international 40bit from thawte), and
waited for it. Installed succesfully but...
Using explorer gave the same problem as before!!!

As a last chance, I trashed my httpd.conf and made changes to the
default... and... it works!!! rock solid and
performing like a beast!!! And not only the 40bit cert!!! I changed my
conf, and now also the SGC Global
Cert from Verisign works with IE, NS, your coffee machine or whatever
does ssl... :-)))

So i decided to look for differences between my "hand-made" httpd.conf
and the one
soldered with apache distro. The only difference is that I used virtual
hosting to specify my https server
parameters, instead of the default httpd.conf that uses a global config.

What's wrong with virtual hosting + https ???

Thanx and bye,
 Pier

P.S.: BTW, using virtual hosting and a self-signed cert, works both with
IE and NS... mmmmh..
