I don't know of any readily available freeware tools - of course, the
tools I've used so far are internal hacks, so I din't look too hard :)
There is a paper at http://www.awe.com/mark/apcon2000/apachecon2000.pdf
which has some numbers that will give you an idea about what to
expect.
