There is a note about not being able to use name-based/non-ip base virtual
server on the FAQ at http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.6/ssl_faq.html#ToC46

Currently, I am running multiple named based virtual hosts under http and IP
base virtual hosts under https. Works great!

I haven't tried it myself, but you should not have any problems with one
name-based ssl vhost, and multiple name-based NON-ssl vhosts.  The problem
only arises when using multiple name-based ssl vhosts.
