Hey it worked, glad to see someone is on the ball.  but i got another prob

apache now fails to start and dumps a group of error messages

./apache_doinstall: --enable-suexec: command not found

and

[Sat Sep 16 00:57:25 2000] [warn] Loaded DSO
/usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_jserv
.so uses plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI! (please
recom
pile it with -DEAPI)

for each module

i have reinstalled / rebuilt the source for apache mod_ssl and mm  the
httpd -v confirms
the -DEAPI

apache may be configured as you say, but was it *installed* as configured?
apxs is for building modules for a *pre-built* apache.
