one mod_ssl problem remaining it did not build a default conf file
 
if some one has one handy it would save me alot of time

setting the --libexecdir flag has no change.  removing the .so files and rebuilding places new .so files in the libexec/ yet these new modules cause the same error

Are you sure the modules being compiled with -DEAPI are the ones being loaded by Apache?

apache 1.3.12
all of the 3rd party modules latest versions as of 30 days ago
