I've just started setting up an Apache server with SSL. I'm running on Solaris
2.6 I've built a server using Apache 1.3.14, mod_ssl 2.7.1 and OpenSSL 0.9.5a.

It all seemed to go together well and when I enter:

apachectl start

I can go to Netscape, enter http://hostname:8081/ then all seems well. But if I
stop that and try to start a secure service using

apachectl startssl

All seems to be well with starting apache, but when I try to access it through
Netscape either as https://hostname:8081/ or https://hostname:443/ it just
hangs.

What have I missed?

Second question - is it possible to create a local certificate that will be
valid on several sites? The main purpose of the server is to drive a web-based
mail administration tool that has to be implemented at various places in Europe.
Will we need to make a certificate for each implementation?

TIA for your help,

Dave Smith
