I had the same problem but could connect to it via the IP address of the
machine. If you can connect via IP and not through the name then check your
DNS Server settings in Network Control Panel.

Hosts may work, but it is not guaranteed. Check in the same place to see if
you are using LMHosts as a name resolution service and ensure you have put
the entry in the correct Hosts file.

As I said, it worked for me.

Subject: what has happened?

I have a strange problem:
I connected to my test https site (latest mod_ssl, apache, open_ssl) with my
laptop (win98 SE, MSIE 5.5)
at home using a dial up ISDN router. The laptop was at the time in a
192.168.100.XXX network (because of the dial up router) and connecting to
the site went smooth. I accepted and saved the certificate. Then I brought
the laptop back to work and it wouldn't work - DNS error. I have tried to
remove the saved certificate, reinstalled MSIE, put the https host in the
"hosts" file but none have worked. The other computers at work has no
problems (mac[msie, netscape] and winNT[msie, netscape]).

What should D do?

Niklas
