You can obtain a 'test id' from Verisign for free...good for 14 days.
The only difference between one that's free and one you pay for?
* No 'verification process'
* Only valid for 14 days as opposed for 365 days (one year)

PS: If anyone has any issues regarding Verisign, whether it be on the
'documentation' that they provide or questions about the
"Secure Site Pro/Commerce Site Pro" certificates they issue, reply back with
your postings and I'll attempt to resolve them.

But on the Globalsign pages, I read:

   A GlobalSign Secure Server certificate costs 175 Euro.

What you can get for free (and you can get that from many of the other
CA's too) is a demo cewrtificate.
