I'm getting the following error when accessing my web server with a
Internet Explorer IE 4.0 4.72.3110.1 SP1 40bit, on a Win98 4.10.1998:

According to some FAQ on the net the english translation is the sentence in
the subject of this mail.
The server is a apache-1.3.14 with mod_ssl-2.7.1 and openssl-0.9.6 on linux.
The certificate is a Thawte normal-Certifikate with the following extensions:
X509v3 Extended Key Usage:
TLS Web Server Authentication
X509v3 Basic Constraints: critical
CA:FALSE
I use the following mod_ssl config extensions:
SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown downgrade-1.0
force-response-1.0
I tried the SSLCipherSuite command, too but got no changes.
Strangely, on another host with an identical configuration and a seemingly
identical certificate is reachable from the same Internet Explorer :-(
The problem was first submitted and continuously reported by several customers
of our business client so it does not seem to be a single error.
(The reporters are supposed to have plain vanilla windows NT or 98
installations without any service pack)
