Don't know if it can help, but we are discussing the same here. :)

Anyway, as I said a mail ago :), I think the pragma: no-cache with http/1.1
can cause problems.

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q222/0/64.asp?LN=EN-US&SD=g
n&FR=0&qry=cache%20pragma&rnk=4&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=IE

== snip
A page that Internet Explorer is browsing is not cached until half of the 64
KB buffer is filled. Usually, metatags are inserted in the header section of
an HTML document, which appears at the beginning of the document. When the
HTML code is parsed, it is read from top to bottom. When the
<HTTP-EQUIV="PRAGMA" CONTENT="NO-CACHE"> metatag is read, Internet Explorer
looks for the existence of the page in cache at that exact moment. If it is
there, it is removed.

IE reports same problems to me (cannot contact server), but other clients
may have "cannot write into cache".
Let us knw
