Please read my post from Wednesday about this. The message ID is

The short answer is that mod_ssl has been committed as a core module for
Apache 2.0, and is therefore located in the master httpd-2.0 CVS tree and
any 2.0 tarballs in the modules/ssl subdirectory.
It is still in the process of being ported from 1.3 to 2.0, however, so
it's not exactly functional at the moment. Just hours ago, Madhu from HP
posted some patches to the new-httpd mailing list to help us make some
progress on that front. (Thanks, Madhu!) I'm in the process of reviewing
the patches, as are other members of the httpd group, I'd imagine. It
will take time to get mod_ssl fully operational under 2.0...
