I'd suggest starting by looking in the logs directory. Generally, if httpd
is not started, you should see some sort of error in the error log which
will give you an indication of why it isn't starting.

Subject: Problem in Running HTTPS using mod_ssl

I am having problem in installing "SSL-aware apache" with mod_ssl in Solaris
2.6.

I installed apache_1.3.12, mod_ssl-2.6.6 and openssl-0.9.5a under
/usr/local/ssl-tool directory.
Those componemnts were installed successfully and then I ran the following
command from /usr/local/ssl-tool/apache_1.3.12 directory :
./bin/apachectl startssl
It showed the following message:
./bin/apachectl startssl: httpd started

Though It states that httpd has started, I could not find any httpd process
is running ( I tested it with the command "ps -aef | grep httpd". I am not
even able to acccess the webserver by https://127.0.0.1/ or
http://127.0.0.1/

Can anyone help me in this regard.

Regards,

Sanjoy.
