The mod_ssl:error:HTTP-request thing is supposed to be purely internal; if it ever leaks out to the client, something is screwed up. I found some odd cases a while back where you could set up redirections in an odd way and it would do that, but I've forgotten the details and would have to dig them up. What redirects are you doing?
