I think that is a good idea whose success, in practical terms, will depend on whether you can recruit people to the project who are expert in preparing binary packages for a specific OS. To guide/coach people to prepare RPMs, for example, there needs to be at least one person who has done that before and done it well. (Note: I don't have any experience in this area. Any RPMs or .debs or my CPAN modules are other people's work.) In other words, the human problem comes first. jimk
