It should have. I notice the line in that report that causes me concern:

[ERROR] [Tue Nov 17 07:44:32 2009] Build 'prereq_data' failed: No such file or 
directory No action 'prereq_data' defined, try running the 'help' action.

With the version of Module::Build installed on that smoker (0.35) the action 
'prereq_data' should be
available for the toolchain to determine which prereqs have been defined in the 
Build.PL

I'll copy this email to the module-build mailing list to see if anyone there 
has any ideas.

It may be this is an edge-case and CPANPLUS::Dist::Build should fall back on 
the older 
method of determining prereqs by poking about in the _build/ directory.
