The Oslo Consensus [1] agreed to use RELEASE_TESTING, not AUTHOR_TESTING. So "no" to AUTHOR_TESTING and I'm open to the idea for RELEASE_TESTING. There was another RT wishlist item about RELEASE_TESTING as well. [2] Please add to that one or open a new RT wishlist ticket.
