A default install of SQL will pre-allocate all available memory to the
SQL Server. However, if your SQL Server has a fair amount of RAM in it
(512+) and all your using it for is ModusMail, it is extremely unlikely
that it will need all the RAM it has allocated. You can control this in
the SQL Server properties tab from within Enterprise Manager.

I tried running SQL on the same box and man oh man is SQL memory hungry.
I just built, this weekend, another SQL server just for modus and will
have it on line tomorrow. Until then I have set the mdb to 3 days.

Just an FYI,

Because the new version is catching more stuff, the Quarantine is liable
to fill up faster and put more load on Access/MS-SQL. So if you're
running MS-SQL, you should keep an eye on it. If you're running
MS-Access (the native MDB database), you may want to consider going to
MS-SQL...

To Funny. Seriously I am kind of lost. It is a weird feeling. I keep
hitting send/receive to see if even one has gotten thru.

I know how you feel Gene. Check out this pun I posted to the beta group
early in the program:

=================

Dear Vircom,

It is with much regret that I must inform you we are considering leaving
the Beta team.

There is only one reason that we are considering leaving, and that being
the strange timing associated with spammers leaving the Internet.

We are confident that spammers left the internet at the very moment we
installed the beta, and base this on the following facts:

Prior to installing the beta, my personal mailbox was receiving up to 30
SPAM messages daily. Since installing the beta, my personal email box
receives 3 to 5 spam messages daily.

Ok, so this indicates that some of the spammers are still out there
sending their trash, but obviously the majority of spammers have simply
given up and quit sending this trash.

Since our participation in the beta was driven by the desire to control
spam messages, and

Since 80 to 90 % of the spammers have stopped spamming - we are
wondering if there is any need to continue with the beta?

Obviously, I'm joking - but the numbers above are real. We have also
seen our quarantine double in the number of messages stored which
indicates to me that the beta is catching twice as much spam as the
release version.

The new engine is doing a very good job.

I got absolutely nothing to do now in regards to e-mail.

That means I may become obsolete?
