Modus is doing exactly what it should, it knows it is not part of your
network and determined that they are trying to relay and aborting.

The key is that it MUST determine if it is a relay attempt, because if
it is not then the mail MUST be accepted because it would be addressed
to a local user.

This is how Modus or any other server tells if the incoming mail is
supposed to be accepted.

If you flat out reject mailers that are not part of your network, how do
you expect to get any mail at all?

Subject: [Modus] Modus config questions

* This is the modus mailing list *

I need some quidance with Modus 3.

I have this in my log:

---- SMTPRS log entry made at 11/14/2003 10:09:34
Incoming SMTP call from 217.226.111.167 at 10:09:33.
<<< 220 modus.montrose.net ModusMail ESMTP Receiver Version 3.0.273.0
Ready
>>> HELO Lcul
<<< 250 OK
>>> MAIL FROM: <[EMAIL PROTECTED] >
<<< 250 [EMAIL PROTECTED] OK
>>> RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
<<< 501 This system is not configured to relay mail from
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for
217.226.111.167
>>> QUIT
<<< 221 modus.montrose.net closing
Incoming SMTP call from 217.226.111.167 completed at 10:09:34.

How do I make Modus reject the message at the connection level?
