Make a custom filter that looks for a subject "I am testing spam
filtering"

Then send them a message from an outside source like yahoo with that
subject. If it gets stopped them it is working, if not then it is not :)

Subject: [Modus] Testing spam scanning

* This is the modus mailing list *

I have had about 5 users in the past week tell me that the amount of
spam they are receiving is out of hand and that they are receiving 40 or
50 a day. I checked their machine settings and they are only checking
one account I then checked the quarantine for each user on a user and
domain level, I was shocked to find that for several of the accounts
only 1 or 2 messages with forbidden attachments were in the quarantine
and for some of the other accounts there were zero messages in the
quarantine. I checked their spam settings and all users have this set
at Extreme and it was not disabled. Is there an easy way for me to test
rather or not spam scanning is working for these users?
