* This is the modus mailing list *
Tom, The way I work around this is to put the list's actual address into the "Bcc:" field and either a generic address (usually I use the same in the "From:" which is one that goes to me and/or others) in the "To:" field. This prevents the recipients from seeing the actual mailing list's address and if they send to the "To:" address, it only goes to me and/or the others specified on that address. For added security, I keep the mailing list set to disabled (Lists > General > Disable mail list) which returns a bounce that the list is not accepting messages. That's kind of a pain, but it prevents anyone else from figuring out the list address and sending mail to the members. For example if I created a (Closed) mailing list with the name of [EMAIL PROTECTED] which is tied to a text file that has all my users email addresses. Then I send an email to that list, it shows the "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" in the email message (BAD BAD). That field needs to be spoofed or blanked out. I don't want my users sending an email to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and everyone seeing it. I see there is a moderator option, but lets say I set that to [EMAIL PROTECTED] is stopping one of my users from simply using webmaster as his pop3 name and then sending the email message ? Our old email server put the members email address in the "to" field. So each member only saw his/her name in the "to" field. I want to be the only one who can send/post email to this userlist and by hiding the email address of that userlist, that is one more step in securing it!
