We have a sql routine that everyday automagically takes the sql database and copies it to an access database and then moves it over to the Modus machine.  The fallback DSN points to this database in case of sql or radius failure.  Some months ago we have a failure and we didn't know about it for five hours because all the secondaries, both radius and email, immediately took over and worked flawlessly, our customers never knew we had a failure.  This routine was written for me by Robbie Ayers in Florida and if anyone is interested he is the one to ask for it.  He may charge a small fee or you can do what I did which was to purchase a book or two for him off his Amazon wish list.

Probably a bit late, but what you could do is export the data to an MS Access Database, copy that over to the Vircom Modus Mail server and configure that as the Fallback DSN. Then when you go to re-install Rodopi just ensure that Modus cannot communicate with the SQL Server so that it uses the Access DB to authenticate.

Subject: [Modus] Emergency Server Maint. A PROBLEM

We have to perform some maint. To our sql machine running rodopi.

How can I setup modusmail to keep authenticating everyones mailbox during this procedure, while rodopi is down?

The vircom radius server I was told I could use auth anyone option but the mail has me alluded on what to do?

I also noticed a fallback dsn option in the database setup under rodopi in modusmail, but wasn’t sure how I could set that up.

I need a quick down and dirty solution, we had a hacker and are experiencing problems that is going to make us take rodopi down for a few hours.

Any suggestions on what others have done in this situation, and any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Jeff
