sounds like the server you are trying to telnet to from your mail server cannot
reverse lookup the IP of your server and you are lagging because you have to wait for
its DNS lookup to timeout, then it connects.

Webtv sounds like a routing problem or they are blocking you space via firewall, etc.

Subject: [Modus] Question for the group.

Greets,
We seem to be having trouble delivering to a few different domains lately, one being
webtv. I can't seem to figure out why but on another domain we have issues with I
noticed today if I telnet to it on port 25 from our mail server it takes forever to
greet us but if I telnet to it from many other boxes on our network it replies right
away. These boxes are all on the same class C, a variety of OS', and the other end
does eventually greet the mail server if I telnet in but it takes at least 2 minutes
so i assume our mail server is timing out when trying to deliver.

On the webtv delivery problem their primary seems to totally reject port 25 sessions
from any of our hosts and their 2ndary asnwers right quick.

Any thoughts or ideas?

TIA,
 Scot
